Years ago when I was studying with an incredible teacher and performer - Randall Griffin of the Houston Ballet - he turned all his students on to a technique of storing reeds. It wasn't until years lafter that I realized the value of this easy process. By keeping your reeds stored in a reed case inside a plastic bag it seems to slow the process of drying which, in turn, will keep them from warping as fast as reeds stored in only a traditional case. Use a veggie bag from your local grocery and not a ziploc bag. Ziplocs will encourage the reed to mold (Yuck!). I have not only kept my reed case in the bag, but I have also kept my best reed on the mouthpiece in the bag - after cleaning the mouthpiece. It certainly prolongs the life of the reeds. You might think it's crazy, but give it a try. You might just be pleasantly surprised! Regards to all of you and keep smiling. Richard Hawkins
